FAQ

What is threading?

Threading is an ancient form of hair removal, originating from the Middle East that has been practiced for centuries. it is a 100% natural form of hair removal performed on the eyebrows and face. The threading specialist takes a piece of cotton thread, twirls it around the fingers and is able to remove the targeted hair from the root. Eyebrows can be shaped to absolute perfection, and the face can be perfectly de-fuzzed, leaving you happy with beautiful precise shape and smooth finish you want!

How often should I get threading done?

We recommend every 2-4 weeks for threading sessions depending on your personal hair growth and what you feel comfortable with! Threading removes the tiniest and finest of hairs so even if you need to come in for a quick clean-up before a party, or just to keep yourself looking ultra fabulous, you can come in as often as you’d like!

How long does threading process take?

A simple eyebrow threading can take just 5-10 minutes. The upper lip takes about 5 minutes; a full face thread takes about 15-20 minutes.

Can I tweeze in between threading sessions?

No, we do not recommend tweezing between threading sessions. Threading slows down and reduces hair growth. Hair also grows much thinner thus making it easier to remove and less painful when threaded. Tweezing in between will reverse all that is achieved from threading and can further irritate follicles which can cause hair to become ingrown, coarser, and darker.

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker after threading?

No, your hair will never grow in thicker or darker after threading. Since threading removes the hair from the root, your hair will become finer over time.

Can threading be performed on the whole face?

Yes, threading can be performed and it is the preferred method for hair removal on the face. It is a 100% natural, non-abrasive form of hair removal, so you’ll never have to worry about burning, pigmentation, or pulling on your skin!

Does threading have any side effects?

No, since threading is 100% natural, there are little to no side effects. Those with ultra sensitive skin may experience redness. Those who try threading for the first time may experience minimal irritation. In this case, we recommend using a cold compress on the affected area, followed by a dab of hydrocortisone. It is always recommended to take advise from your doctor.

Can threading be performed on someone who is using a topical or oral acne or skin-thinning medication?

Absolutely. Threading can be performed on any type of skin. Since threading is 100% natural, you do not have to worry about reactions to the skin.

How long before a special event (i.e. birthday or wedding) should I get threaded ?

We recommend coming in at least 2-3 days before your special event to get threaded.

Can men get their eyebrows done?

Absolutely yes. We have our eyebrow artists trained how to clean up and shape male brows.

What does threading feel like? Does it hurt?

Threading is comparable to tweezing or waxing. You may feel a pinching or light scraping sensation. Increasing numbers threading is being adopted as the preferred means of hair removal.

What are the benefits of threading vs waxing?

Threading does not peel off a layer of skin.

Hair does not grow back as fast.

The skin doesn’t usually get red and irritated.

Threading can target individual hairs.

Hair only needs to grow just above the skin to get threaded

Over time, hair becomes finer and more sparse.

Threading will pick up the finest hairs from the surface of the skin minutes.

Why does the esthetician put the thread in her mouth?

The thread must be pulled tight in order to accurately and precisely remove each hair. However, the thread that touches the esthetician’s mouth never touches your face.

Is it okay to get threaded if you have sensitive skin?

Yes. However, depending on your sensitivity level, you may experience redness or minor bumps at site, but it should subside in 10-15 minutes. In rare cases, the area may remain red for an hour or two. If you tend to break out after treatment, we recommend not using the lotion or aloe gel that your esthetician usually applies. Refrain from using face products for a few hours until the area is less sensitive. If you develop a rash that does not subside, call your dermatologist.

I over tweezed. How long should I wait before my next threading appointment?

Although hair can be removed once it’s grown above the surface of the skin, we recommend waiting for about two weeks to give your eyebrows a chance to grow back in so your esthetician can give you the shape you want. You can come in anytime for a “clean up.”

What should I do to prepare for threading?

Let your hair grow just above the skin and you’re ready. If you want a new or different shape to your brows, let them grow a bit but do not tweeze them so your esthetician can see their natural shape before suggesting the best shape for your face.

What should i do for threading aftercare?

After getting hair removal, you should be (hair free!) and have minimal to no side effects. However, a small percentage of clients with ultra sensitive skin do experience more irritation than average. No matter what type of skin you have–these are a few steps we recommend to take post hair removal.

Cold water:

We recommend all clients rinse with cold water post hair removal for at least 2-3 hours. After that feel free to rinse and shower using any water temperature you are comfortable with.

Ice:

If you just got a full face threading done and need to be somewhere ASAP, ask your threading specialist to grab you some ice to help close your pores and minimize all redness.
